I just recieved and email not 5 minutes ago saying it was there. A quick look on the Windows Chrome Recovery app had the image available. Can you look again? If it's still not there, it may be a global server distribution list and we can take a look at it Monday. https://gyazo.com/eeabc6093f49b7194e92fddc21cc9bf2

I love my Chromebook, had other people by Chromebooks, but mine was stuck in its protective bag and after pulling it out found burn hole underneath! The screen is singed, browned on the inside. It is not a big hole, but it is a big issue for me and my loyalty.image.jpeg

I still have that rebooting problem. LOST CAUSRE. Mine was a year old when it started, tried support,  chat, and forumns, and many of the suggestions. "We want to step in to let you all know that Acer is aggressively working to identify issues related to the Acer C720 Chromebook randomly shutting down" .Wasn't about to spend money on various hardware hoping for a fix, I shouldn't have to spend anything! Didn't realize that a fatal  breakdown would occur before it became outdated! Bought an ASUS which works just fine! They make expensive book ends! Cant say anything positive about the C720, nor will I reccommend Acer products.

Hello,

I have a Acer Aspire V5-572p-6858 and until about two weeks ago, only half of the screen would come on; So I ordered a new LCD & Touchscreen & replaced it and it came on and works perfectly fine. The only problem however is that the touchscreen does not work because the distace between the Touch Screen Cable and where the slot should snip in on the new screen is too far.

I would like to know if acer stopped manufacturing this particular model of laptop Acer Aspire V5-572p-6858. Hence making people source parts from other compatible laptops.

Well, the app for making the recovery USB worked.  I got an update symbol, clicked to restart and the computer died.  Dead, not even the charging light comes on.  Tried everything by talking to Acer support.  It's now a boat anchor after only 5 days.

WIfi Issue with CB3-111-C6NE

I sold my old Dell laptop and purchased the CB3-111-C6NE Chromebook. I am not getting proper internet speed on my Chromebook. I am using this Huawei modem https://www.acanac.com/blog/hardware/huawei-mt130u/ and this Linksys router https://www.amazon.ca/Linksys-Canada-EA6100-CA-Router-Ethernet/dp/B00N70OXQC/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1463550604&sr=8-13&keywords=wifi+router. I was getting 10Mbps speed on my dell laptop whereas, on the Chromebook, I just have 6-8Mbps. I called up tech support team from Acanac. They had a look and told me that it was the issue with my Chromebook. Is anyone having such an issue?

Yep, did all those and more as directed by telephone support.  Checked AC power supply is working.  No charging light, just dead. Send it back.

Great to hear. The Chromebooks are really great machines when it comes to troubleshooting. The Chrome team does a lot to simplify the issues we've all experienced with Windows over the years.

 

Unfortunately, it sounds like sparky had an actual hardware issue. I'm sorry we couldn't get you fixed up.

Chromebook 13s (Cb5-311) are losing screws...

My School District purchased around 120 Acer Chromebook 13s in June of last year. We've noticed over the course of the year that some were missing screws from the bottom casing. We had this issue before with a different brand last year. After talking with other local school districts, this seems to be a wide problem when it comes to Chromebooks (HP, Dell, Acer). 

 

We would like to get these screws replaced, but I can't get Acer to just send me some replacements. They want me to send in each unit for repair (even under warranty this is crazy as it costs us ~$7/unit to ship to Acer). I was wondering if any of you resourceful people out there know the screw size for this particular model?

 

 

TL DR Acer is being stingy with replacement screws and I am trying to find out the size I need for the CB5-311 bottom casing screws.

Thanks! I tried that and got response

Battery is discharging 0% left

Battery health: 98.8%

So does that mean the battery is okay but the charger doesn't work?

I had not used the Chromebook in over a year and it had this issue when I tried to use it again. It seems to work okay when plugged in. Purchased in 2013 very cheap from eBay. Ideas?

Wow! Thanks! I used your link to the Acer Store to see the battery for $39.99 (before tax & shipping). Then I tried using the store's search functions for accessories and found exactly the same battery which makes me feel very confident: Part AK.004BT.098, 4-cell Li-Ion 2500mAh Battery. Nice to know the option is there!

I found this on another site,

"Lithium batteries have protection against over-discharging, they do this by breaking the circuit if the voltage drops too low to prevent further drain. Unfortunately, once this has triggered, you can no longer put charge back into the battery because the battery is disconnected internally, so no matter how long you leave the phone on charge, it remains disconnected and flat.

You only need to get the voltage in the battery to raise a percent or two to reconnect the protection circuit so that it will charge again and you can do that by warming up the battery. You may get away with leaving the phone overnight in a very warm (hot) place, such as on top of a hot water tank, however a more efficient way is to remove the battery and heat it up until it's quite hot with a hairdryer on its hottest setting. Heat it for a good 5-10 mins so that the hear soaks right through the battery and it feels hot to the touch, this will raise the internal voltage enough to reconnect the protection circuit. Immediately reconnect the battery into the phone and put it on charge. After about 10-20 mins, enough charge should get back into the battery to fire up the phone and it'll come back to life."
